Our Family’s Classic Cheese Ball Recipe

img 34571 1 scaledHey everyone — I’m sharing a beloved family cheese ball recipe. Every family needs a reliable cheese ball, and this is ours.img 34571 2 scaledimg 34571 3 scaledMy mom says the recipe came from an aunt, though its deeper origins are unclear. It has appeared at many parties — often with me hovering nearby, sampling too much. The texture is creamy, the flavor delightfully sharp, and it’s packed with one of my favorite ingredients: thinly sliced green onions.img 34571 4 scaledimg 34571 5 scaledI don’t usually feature many recipes that rely on processed ingredients, but I make an exception for this one because it works so well. The recipe uses three jarred Kraft spreads: Roka Blue, Pimento, and Old English. These are often available at local grocery stores; if you can’t find them in person, they can be ordered online. I keep a few jars on hand for when the cheese ball mood hits. For serving, I strongly recommend Ritz crackers, though chips, pretzels, or other dippers are fine. You can shape the mixture into a smooth ball or a half-sphere — I’m usually too lazy to bother with perfection, and sometimes it never leaves the bowl.

I hope you enjoy it!img 34571 6 scaled

Description

Creamy and tangy, this cheese ball is brightened with plenty of green onions. Serve it with Ritz crackers for the classic pairing; other chips and pretzels also work well.

Ingredients

Scale

  • One 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • One 5-ounce jar Kraft Roka Blue cheese spread
  • One 5-ounce jar Kraft Pimento cheese spread
  • One 5-ounce jar Kraft Old English cheese spread
  • 4 to 5 green onions, very thinly sliced
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine the softened cream cheese and all three jars of cheese spread in a food processor. Process until the mixture is smooth and fully combined. Stir in most of the sliced green onions, reserving a few tablespoons for garnish. Season with freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a serving platter and shape into a ball or mound. Sprinkle with the reserved green onions and a little extra black pepper. Serve with Ritz crackers, chips, pretzels, or your preferred dippers.
