It’s Labor Day weekend! I know it’s been a while since my last post — I’ve had my head buried in textbooks. Last month I began full-time studies in Occupational Therapy. It’s an exciting career path and I’m genuinely thrilled, but it comes with a heavy course load. I’m enrolled in 17 credit hours while keeping up with the boys and my husband. It’s strange being back in college, but I’m loving the chance to learn. Some days my head spins, but I’m taking things one step at a time and feeling thankful for the opportunity.
To celebrate the long weekend, I wanted to share a few favorite recipes that are perfect for Labor Day, plus a handful of refreshing warm-weather drinks I enjoy from Starbucks.
Cinnamon Sugar Pull-Apart Bread – Since you likely don’t have to rush to work Monday, try making a more involved breakfast. This cinnamon sugar pull-apart loaf is fun to assemble and the family will love tugging apart each gooey piece for a cozy morning treat.
Pimento Cheese Spread – A well-made appetizer sets the tone for the day. Pimento cheese is creamy, tangy, and always a crowd pleaser — perfect for grazing while you visit with friends and family.
Grilled Santa Fe Burger – Elevate the classic burger by folding chips and salsa into the patty or using them as bold toppings. The result is a flavorful, slightly spicy burger that makes grilling feel special without much extra fuss.
Chessmen Cookies Banana Pudding – For dessert, this banana pudding topped with delicate cookies is a favorite. It’s creamy, nostalgic, and a lovely way to finish a holiday meal.
To complement these dishes, consider a lineup of refreshing beverages. Start the day with an energizing cold coffee to wake up, then later enjoy a fruity refresher with coconut water like a black cherry limeade while snacking on pimento cheese and grilling the Santa Fe burgers. Finish the meal with a creamy, indulgent white chocolate mocha frappuccino alongside the banana pudding. It’s a festive mix — since it’s a holiday, a little indulgence is totally appropriate.
Wishing you a relaxed and delicious Labor Day weekend. Whether you’re baking a pull-apart loaf, spreading pimento cheese on crackers, firing up the grill, or enjoying a cool beverage in the shade, take some time to rest and enjoy the company of loved ones.
