Crispy Fire Crackers (Spiced Saltine Snack) Recipe

"Fire Crackers" (Saltine crackers seasoned with ranch and red pepper flakes) sit in a small oval serving dish.

These Fire Crackers are Saltine crackers tossed with ranch seasoning, red pepper flakes, garlic, and oil—a simple, flavorful snack you can make in minutes.

I came across this idea on Pinterest and loved how easy it was. Plain saltines are fine, but once you add seasoning they become an irresistible snack.

These crackers can be addictive, so have a plan if you don’t want to eat the whole batch at once!

Next time I might try oyster crackers—they’re smaller and bite-sized, making them easy to pop in your mouth. Either way, they’re delicious.

Fire Cracker Ingredients:

  • Unsalted Saltine Crackers (1 box, about 4 sleeves)
  • Dry Ranch Dressing Mix (1 ounce packet)
  • Crushed Red Pepper Flakes (about 2 tbsp)
  • Garlic Powder (about 1/2 tsp)
  • Canola Oil (about 1 cup)

How To Make Fire Crackers:

1. Combine the canola oil, dry ranch mix, crushed red pepper flakes, and garlic powder in a bowl. Stir well so the seasoning is evenly suspended in the oil.

2. Divide the saltine crackers between two sealable 8-cup containers (about two sleeves per container). You can also use sturdy resealable bags.

3. Pour half of the oil-and-seasoning mixture over the crackers in each container. Close the lids securely.

4. Turn the containers upside down every 5 minutes for 30 minutes so the crackers get evenly coated. If any flakes settle, give the mixture a quick stir before adding.

5. After 30 minutes the crackers are ready to enjoy. Store in the sealed containers; they will keep for up to a week.

Note: This is a no-cook recipe. If you prefer a toastier crunch, you can spread the coated crackers on a baking sheet and bake briefly, but that step is optional.
