Strawberries and Cream Oatmeal Bowl Vertical

I resisted adding egg whites to oatmeal for a long time because I loved the separate tastes of eggs and oats. Eventually a friend convinced me to try it, and now it’s one of my favorite quick breakfasts. The egg whites make the oats silkier and give the bowl more volume without many extra calories.

This strawberries-and-cream version is lightly flavored with unsweetened vanilla almond milk and finished with whipped cream and a low-calorie strawberry syrup for a dessert-like breakfast that still fits a low-calorie, high-protein plan.

How to make Egg White Oatmeal with Strawberries

  • 1/3 cup dry oats — a reliable 100-calorie portion if you’re tracking.
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk — use double the liquid-to-oats ratio for a creamier, more voluminous bowl.
  • 1/4 cup liquid egg whites.
  • 2 medium strawberries, sliced.
  • 2 tablespoons zero-calorie strawberry syrup (optional).
  • 1 tablespoon whipped cream (optional garnish).

Microwave method (quick and reliable): Combine the oats and almond milk in a microwave-safe bowl and cook for 1 minute. Take the bowl out and stir, then microwave for another 30 seconds. At this point the oats are mostly cooked and have warmed through enough to accept the egg whites without scrambling.

Slowly whisk in the egg whites until evenly combined. Return the bowl to the microwave for 30 seconds, stir well, then microwave for a final 30 seconds. You’ll be removing and stirring frequently so the egg whites fold into the oats smoothly and create a creamy texture rather than curds.

Total microwave time is about 2–3 minutes, depending on your appliance. Once finished, top the oatmeal with the sliced strawberries, a drizzle of zero-calorie strawberry syrup if you like extra sweetness, and a small dollop of whipped cream for a treat-like finish.
