Easter Bunny Peeps Race Cars: Festive Treats for Kids

Easter Bunny Peeps Race Cars are a delightful, kid-friendly dessert that’s fast and simple to assemble. Using a Twinkie for the car body, a marshmallow Peep as the driver, mini Oreo cookies for wheels, a pretzel for the steering wheel, and a bit of vanilla frosting to hold everything together, these treats are perfect for Easter parties, classroom crafts, or a quick family activity.

Easter Peeps Race Cars

These race cars are a great DIY project for little hands. Younger kids can do most of the work themselves with a little adult supervision for the cutting. I’ve made them at home and with elementary Sunday School classes — they’re always a hit. A quick tip: when carving the driver’s seat in the Twinkie, be careful not to cut all the way through.

The car and driver

The body of the car is simply a Twinkie. Choose Peeps in a variety of colors to give each car personality — pink, blue, purple, and yellow all look adorable. If you want to pack extra charm into each creation, try pairing complementary Peep colors or mixing two drivers in one Twinkie by carving two shallow seats.

The Steering Wheel

A pretzel makes an ideal steering wheel. White-chocolate–covered pretzels with sprinkles would be extra festive if you can find them, but ordinary pretzels work perfectly and are easy to tuck in front of the Peep. Secure the pretzel with a small dot of frosting if it needs extra hold.

The Wheels

Mini Oreo cookies are ideal for wheels — four per car, two on each side. Attach them with a dab of vanilla frosting and press gently so they stay in place. The whole assembly is quick: carving a seat, placing the Peep, adding the pretzel steering wheel, and fixing the cookie wheels can be done in minutes. If you’re taking photos or prepping a batch for a group, plan for a few extra minutes.

For a two-driver car, simply carve two shallow seats side by side in the Twinkie. The result is irresistibly cute and easy to customize.

These Twinkie Peeps Race Cars invite creative decorations. Add M&M’s for headlights, use other small cookies or candies for details, or pipe colored frosting to create stripes and numbers. Let kids design their own cars and drivers — it makes for a fun activity and a tasty treat.

Ingredients for Easter Peeps Twinkie Racers

Gather Peeps in every color you can find to make a bright, varied fleet. We also found small marshmallow candies called Brach’s Spring Buddies that worked wonderfully alongside the Peeps for extra characters and variety.

These little drivers make everyone smile. Kids enjoy arranging the characters and adding fun details — sometimes a dab of frosting becomes a helmet, or a candy becomes a quirky headlight. Encourage imagination and let each child personalize their racer.

Some designs are silly, some are elegant, and some are downright punny — the fun is in the variety. Display the finished cars on a platter and let everyone admire the designs before digging in.
