This homemade Raspberry Iced Tea is a refreshing cold beverage for hot summer days. It’s made with fresh raspberries, fresh lemon juice, and a touch of sugar. Adjust the sweetness to taste.
Raspberry Iced Tea
In summer I make a lot of cold drinks, and iced tea is my go-to year-round. This raspberry version is one of my favorites: bright raspberry flavor, a hint of lemon, and just enough sweetness to balance the tartness. It’s simple to prepare and perfect for backyard gatherings or a cool drink after a hot day.

I first served this at a family barbecue and it disappeared quickly—everyone chose it over soda or plain water. The recipe uses common ingredients: basic black tea bags, fresh raspberries, fresh lemon juice, and sugar. It’s easy to make ahead and keeps well in the refrigerator for several days.

I found fresh raspberries on sale and stocked up to make this and other raspberry treats. There’s no need for specialty tea—any basic black tea works well. If you prefer a lighter flavor, reduce the steep time or use fewer tea bags. For a sweeter drink, add more sugar or a splash of simple syrup when serving.

Ingredients
- 3 black tea bags (such as Lipton)
- 8 cups water, divided
- 1 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- 12 oz fresh raspberries
- Juice of 1/2 lemon

Instructions
- Bring 4 cups of the water to a boil. Remove from heat and add the tea bags. Let them steep for 15 minutes, then remove the tea bags.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the remaining 4 cups water, the sugar, and the raspberries. Bring to a boil over high heat.
- Reduce heat to medium and simmer for about 10 minutes, mashing the raspberries occasionally to release their juices.
- Remove the pan from heat and strain the raspberry mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, discarding the solids. You’ll be left with a clear raspberry syrup.
- Combine the brewed tea and the strained raspberry syrup in a large pitcher. Stir in the lemon juice and taste; add more sugar if desired.
- Chill in the refrigerator and serve over ice.
