While editing photos and assembling the video for this post I kept wondering, “Is it too early for pumpkin spice?” I decided not to wait — and this time pumpkin spice shows up in a healthy, vibrant GREEN SMOOTHIE.
I haven’t shared a green smoothie in a while, but my affection for these bright green drinks is very much intact. Lately I’ve been looping the same go-to smoothie recipe and realized it was time for a change from the usual peanut butter and blueberry combo. So here it is: the Pumpkin Spice Green Smoothie.
You might notice the photos look a little different. When I film recipe videos I usually photograph the finished dish on a separate day. For this simple smoothie I planned to shoot the video and take photos afterward, but apparently I didn’t get around to photographing it later. The images you see here are screenshots from the video — not ideal, but they show the smoothie well enough. Lesson learned for future shoots.
Next week I’ll take a short break from pumpkin recipes to welcome the apple season. Earlier this year I planted three apple trees on our new property. They’re alive and growing, though I still need to do more maintenance. No apples this year, but fingers crossed for a harvest in the coming seasons.
Happy weekending, friends!
Pumpkin Spice Green Smoothie

- 1 frozen banana
- 2 large handfuls of kale + spinach, or whatever greens you prefer
- 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice mix
- 1 cup almond milk, or other non-dairy milk
- 2 pitted dates, or substitute 2 tablespoons agave or maple syrup
